LGBTQIA+ Support & Inclusion

At BACC, we’re proud to have a Diversity and Inclusion Officer (LGBTQIA+) committed to supporting our local LGBTQIA+ community in the Blacktown Local Government Area by:

• Providing support to LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families
• Delivering training and workshops to community workers and the wider public
• Coordinating and supporting LGBTQIA+ inclusive events across the Blacktown LGA

Individualised Support

Personalised, one-on-one support for LGBTQIA+ individuals, including:

• Referrals to LGBTQIA+ specific services
• Connection with mental health, housing, and health supports
• Advocacy to assist with support needs

Drop-in sessions

Co-designed with the LGBTQIA+ community, these sessions aim to create a safe and welcoming space to:

• Build community and connection
• Encourage local LGBTQIA+ voices in event planning and advocacy
• Respond to emerging needs and priorities identified by the community

Workshops & Training

Equipping the community to be more inclusive and supportive:

• LGBTQIA+ awareness and allyship training for service providers, community workers, schools, and retail staff
• Family-focused workshops to support loved ones coming out, transitioning, or exploring identity
• Guidance for parents, carers, and allies on how to have inclusive, affirming conversations

Community Events

Celebrating and uplifting our local LGBTQIA+ community through inclusive events.

Annual observances like IDAHOBIT and Wear It Purple Day.

Events are planned and delivered in consultation with LGBTQIA+ voices and in collaboration with local groups and services.
